Ledger® Live Essentials

Overview

Ledger® Live is the official software companion to Ledger® hardware wallets. It provides a single interface to manage multiple cryptocurrency accounts, check portfolio values, send and receive coins and tokens, install apps on your device and apply firmware updates — while your private keys remain isolated on the physical Ledger® device.

Download & Install

Always download Ledger® Live from Ledger®’s official website or the verified app store listing. Available as Ledger® Live Desktop for Windows/macOS/Linux and as the Ledger® Live App for iOS/Android. After installing, open the app and follow the guided onboarding to pair your hardware device or create a watch-only setup.

Logging in & Using the App

Ledger® Live does not expose private keys — to sign transactions you must confirm on your Ledger® device. Typical login flow: launch the app, connect your device (USB or Bluetooth as supported), unlock it with your PIN, then open the account in Ledger® Live. For mobile pairing, enable Bluetooth and confirm pairing codes on both devices.

Troubleshooting Common Login Issues

  • Ledger Login not working: Update Ledger® Live and device firmware, try another USB cable/port, and restart both devices.
  • Error Connecting Ledger Account: Check USB drivers on desktop, allow permissions on macOS, and disable VPNs or USB-blocking security software temporarily.
  • Ledger Live App not Working: Clear the app cache (mobile) or reinstall the desktop app. Re-pair the device and verify firmware compatibility.
  • Can't verify Ledger® Wallet address: Always verify addresses on the physical device screen. If the device display is faulty, do not transact until resolved.

Account Recovery & 2FA Guidance

If your device is lost or damaged, recover your accounts using the 24-word recovery phrase on a compatible Ledger® device or trusted recovery solution. Note: Ledger® itself does not implement site-specific 2FA for recovery phrases — any two-factor authentication used with exchange accounts must be reset through those services. Never share your recovery phrase.

Interoperability: Unable to Ledger® Trezor?

Ledger® and Trezor are separate ecosystems. You cannot operate one device as the other. To migrate, you may use your recovery phrase (if compatible) following each vendor’s documented migration steps — verify compatibility and risks before proceeding.
